If I am a star then how come I don't get no tequila?
I am strangely calm. I wonder if I should be spazzing out and try to think about the 48 hours that preceded previous trips and whether I was spazzing out or not. I think, in general, that I have been essentially spaz free.
I am packed. No suede boots are making the journey, but the orange suede and fur vest is. For one thing it is lighter and also, it is a bit more comfortable for the duration. And I probably would tear the boots to shreds on those rough Spanish streets within a week's time.
Today, my home town paper, the Half Moon Bay Review from Half Moon Bay, California (once one of the most beautiful places on the planet, now all built up and Ritz-ed out) featured an article about me and Ruth and our book. We've had some articles and reviews in various papers but I must say, I like this one the best so far. Makes me look pretty exotic and well-traveled, to all the folks back home. In high school there were maybe five people who knew I was a good writer and student when I wanted to be (four were the persons that sat right in front of me and saw my papers handed back, one was my English teacher Ms. Elder.) The rest of them thought me a screw-up (and I was, but with moments of brilliance.) Heh heh, who has a book now! Ah, how high school brings back all those la le lah, neener neener I am better than you feelings out into the open.
At any rate I am very happy with the article.
Tonight, at an upscale Mexican restaurant bar, a guy bought a tequila shot for the guy next to him and one for himself. Whateves, you say, but the shots cost $125 EACH! $250 for two shots. The lucky recipient was some surfer dude, who happened to sit in the seat next to someone crazy enough to spend $250 on 2 ounces of liquid. It bees that way sometimes.
